Adobo


If we Filipinos will have a national dish it would be our legendary Adobo. This dish is very common when we having celebrations like fiesta (Celebrating Towns Patron), weddings and party also some of us usually eats this very tasty dish accompanied by smoking rice. Did you know we can cook adobo even we don't have to add meat, for health conscious that is favor for them. Who among us did not experience to eat "Adobong Sitaw" this is very cheap adobo that I know. You don't have to be like chef Boy Logro to cook Adobo even normal people like us can make a sweet and tasty Adobo. Many kinds of adobo can cook by many Filipinos but I will include here a recipe that called Chicken Adobo / Adobong Manok.

How to make Chicken Adobo? / Adobong Manok

Ingredients of Chicken Adobo

  • 1/2 kilo chicken, any parts its up to you.
  • 8 tablespoons soy sauce, Datu Puti soy sauce ("Ito ay Safe")
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced or pound
  • 1 to 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cooking oil (canola oil)
  • 6 dried bay leaves
  • pepper
  • 4 tablespoons cane vinegar or regular vinegar
Preparation
  1. Marinade the chicken by combining soy sauce and garlic in a large container for at least 2 hours.
  2. Set to medium fire and heat the oil in a pan. If the oil is hot enough put the chicken on the pan and let the chicken become golden brown. After that set aside the chicken.
  3. Add 1 cup of water and let it boil then add the remaining marinade of garlic and soy sauce.
  4. Put the dried bay leaves and pepper. Place the chicken and simmer on medium heat for 20 minutes until it became tender.
  5. Add vinegar and stir the pan for 10 minutes
  6. Smell it and say delicioso mi amigo and serve while its hot.
